Cat Bypass
Catalytic converters reduce an engines efficiency, by removing the cat it is possible to get performance gains of up to 20% depending on the vehicle.
Cat bypass pipes can be manufactured from both mild steel or stainless to match the rest of your exhaust system.
Prices start from £40 for mild steel.
It is a legal requirement for all cars registered after August 1992 to be fitted with a cat.
Exhaust Repairs
Thanks to such competitive pricing, a lot of exhausts won't break the bank when they need changing. However, isn't it always the case that these extra expenses come at the worst possible time. We can often offer an alternative solution by repairing your existing exhaust at a fraction of the cost of a replacement. Many modern exhausts are a very high quality but that isn't always the case for the hangers, the little metal loops which support the exhaust. These often rust and fall off, and the customer is often informed they need a new exhaust. We can weld on new hangers for as little as £10. If the exhaust is broken it two we can cut out the weak section, reinforce it and weld it back together for as little as £20. There are expensive parts in the exhaust such as the catalytic converter or diesel particulate filter, or you may have a luxury saloon where the exhaust system has a significant cost. These too can be repaired for just a few tens of pounds. Most modern exhaust systems have a flexible section in them. This allows the engine to vibrate without that energy being imparted to the exhaust system. These flex sections often fail long before the exhaust they are part of. It has become common practice for the manufacturers to weld these flex sections to the cat meaning a replacement can be unnecessarily expensive. We can simply weld in a new flex for as little as £60. If your money matter to you, give us a call.
DPF bypass
Diesel Particulate Filters, or DPF's are fitted instead of cat's to more modern diesels. they collect the soot from the exhaust gas and 'regenerate' when the filter is clogged with the soot. This regeneration process involves the filter going through a burn cycle when the vehicle is warm, travelling at a minimum speed (normally around 50 MPH) and cruising out of town. This burn cycle has a degenerative effect on the filter, giving them a service life of around 70,000 miles. If a car spends most of it's life on short journeys then this lifespan can be reduced further. Once depleted, replacement DPF's can often cost in excess of £1000, a cost considered to be part of the routine servicing by the manufacturer. in many cases we can remove the DPF from the exhaust system and reprogram the cars electronics accordingly. Not only does this often cost half as much as a replacement, but it's a cost you will never need to revisit. Once the work is done it will last the lifetime of the vehicle.
