Making the most of it

Thursday, September 8th, 2011

We had a highly strung new shape imprezza in recently that had modified and tweaked to within an inch of it’s life. The only problem was that it’s very expensive stainless exhaust was now a bit too loud. Rather than build a complete new system we designed and built a special slim line box with high temperature wadding to sit in the centre of the exhaust. The performance remains the same but the owner can get off his drive in the morning without the neighbours complaining.

Tardis exhaust

Thursday, July 28th, 2011

we always say that just about anything is possible when it comes to building exhausts. that is assuming you’ve got enough space to fit in big enough boxes. The owner of this Porsche wanted to keep it pretty quiet but also had a limit to his budget, so fancy designs or even large silencer boxes were out of the question. the problem is that with the engine hanging right out of the back there isn’t much room to play with. that’s a problem if the exhaust needs to be quiet as less noise means more exhaust boxes. In the end we twisted the pipework around a couple of standard pattern boxes and slipped in a decibel insert to keep the reverberation down.

Burnt Body Kit

Tuesday, June 14th, 2011

This BMW had been treated to an M3 kit but needed some exhaust work. the standard exhaust had been sitting against the body kit and melted the back bumper. The request was to give the car a copy of the M3’s quad tip design. This was a tall order as the back box sat right up against the bumper leaving no room for pipework. We designed a system that turned the gas flow around and brought it forwards again before heading back to the tips. The look and sound was exactly as the customer wanted

Performance Porsche

Tuesday, June 14th, 2011

We’ve helped out with quite a few jobs on this Porsche. It has been taking part in the MSVR trackday trophy this year and was in need of a new exhaust. The owner wanted stainless steel and to keep the noise to around 95 db so it remains eligible for even the quietest trackdays. The system was build from 2.25 inch 304 stainless using 2 boxes. The result- 94 db at 3/4 RPM. Exactly what was ordered.

More Vroom for a VXR

Thursday, May 26th, 2011

This Astra VXR has already had a little work done under the bonnet but before it heads off for a re-map the exhaust needs attention. The customers request was simple, fast and loud. A 200 cell sports cat replaced the original and three inch stainless steel pipework weaved it’s way to a tiny back box. The VXR tip was replicated but made a little bit bigger to set off the look. With the added poke from the free flowing exhaust the customer quite wisely decided on a brake upgrade. the car has massive brakes as standard so we settled on simply uprating the pad. EBC Yellow pads were fitted to keep things useable on the road and sharp even when hot.

stainless savings

Wednesday, May 25th, 2011

The stainless exhaust on this Jag had kissed one too many speed bumps. Although the battered box was doing little to silence the car the owner quite liked his new found exhaust tone. We replaced the box with a sportier design and with a few modifications saved the rest of his stainless system. Another nice cheap fix to a potentially expensive problem.

Stainless Repairs

Wednesday, May 25th, 2011

Sometimes even the finest quality stainless exhaust can get damaged. Speed bumps and fields at car shows can take their toll. This lovely classic had a battered stainless exhaust but it turned out that with a few select repairs his current system could be saved. This saved him spending extra on e complete new system and allowed him to change the exhaust note slightly while we were there. Everyone’s a winner.

Lower and louder

Monday, November 29th, 2010

We had already had this Boxster in to build a stainless steel sports exhaust. The customer then wanted his brake pads upgrading and some lowering spring fitted. True to form for German cars over engineering was evident everywhere. Half the suspension needed to come out to to get to the springs but the results were worth the effort as the slighgtly lower stance really improves the look

Something a little different

Monday, September 13th, 2010

A customer called up and asked if we could build something totally different for his navara. His brief was to build something wild that no-one else has got, and to free up the gasses from his turbo as this particular truck is pushing out some serious power. the pictures speak for themselves, what you can’t see is the decat, and that the twin side pipes match on both sides. Definately different

The way Jag should’ve made it

Monday, February 1st, 2010

This Jag XK was entrusted to us by it’s owner who was very concerned about getting the sound just right from the exhaust of his pride and joy.  Several options were explored but we developed a design that we expected to produce the right sounds and avoid the need for a special box to be made. The system featured a crossover which helps even out the exhaust tone by equalising the pressure in the 2 systems, helps reduce noise slightly and on certain occasions on some engines may give a slight power gain. The exhaust note was gorgeous when we fired the car up, a purposeful growl when the engine was revved settling to a gentle burble at idle yet going almost entirely silent at cruising speeds. It’s great to build a system for an engine that makes such a lovely noise to start with.
